Abbasi Program Welcomes Zerreen Kazi as Program Coordinator

The Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies is pleased to welcome Zerreen Kazi (they/them) as its new Program Coordinator, beginning April 1, 2026.

Zerreen is an experienced event and project manager with a strong commitment to supporting and amplifying the stories and experiences of marginalized communities. They bring a diverse professional background spanning the arts, education, and event production sectors.

Prior to joining the Abbasi Program, Zerreen worked in admissions at the San Francisco Waldorf School and at Stanford University’s Department of Electrical Engineering. They have also been involved in event production with Off the Grid, a Bay Area mobile catering company, and worked as a buyer for a vintage store in San Jose. In addition, Zerreen has taught as a private tutor and served as a substitute math teacher in the San Francisco Unified School District.

Outside of their professional work, Zerreen’s interests center on storytelling, including collaborations with independent filmmakers, creative writing, and reading. Based in San Francisco, they enjoy exploring the city’s natural landscapes, food, and cultural offerings.

The Abbasi Program looks forward to the contributions Zerreen will bring to its events, programming, and community engagement.
