Show your support for the Abbasi Program on #GivingTuesday

On Tuesday, December 1, 2015, the Abbasi Program is joining forces with over 30,000 organizations in 68 countries to give back to the causes they love. #GivingTuesday is a global movement to celebrate and encourage giving as opposed to post-Thanksgiving  consumerism.

We invite you to celebrate and support the Abbasi Program’s mission to advance Islamic Studies at Stanford University through research, teaching and outreach. Please take a moment to review our affiliates’ publications, our students’ grant reports, our faculty’s courses, and our multi-media library. Help us meet our mission to enhance genuine understanding of the histories, cultures, and languages of Islam and Muslim societies across the globe.

Here are 3 ways to support the Abbasi Program during #GivingTuesday:

1) Make a secure donation online.  To find out whether your company may match your gift, please see https://doublethedonation.com/giving-tuesday/ . Gifts of all sizes are truly meaningful and 100% tax-deductible.

2) Like the Abbasi Program on Facebook and Twitter, and invite friends to follow us on social media.

3) Share an #UNselfie to let everyone know that you care.

  • On a sheet of paper, write #UNselfie & your answer to “I support the Abbasi Program, because ..." .
  • Take a photo of yourself with your #UNselfie sheet.
  • Post the photo on Facebook and/or Twitter with the hashtags #UNselfie and #Giving Tuesday
  • Tag @abbasiprogram at Twitter and/or @abbasiprogramstanford on Facebook.
  • If you do not use social media, email your #UNselfies to omohamed [at] stanford.edu (subject: %23GivingTuesday%20Selfie) (Orit Mohamed) and we will post them for you.

Your support will help ensure that balanced, rigorous knowledge of Islam and Muslim societies is an integral part of the future of  America and the globe.

Thank YOU for your support of the Abbasi Program, and happy #GivingTuesday!
