Anwar Haneef

Anwar Haneef is a PhD student specializing in the history of the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East. His research explores the interconnected histories of agrarian life, material culture, knowledge production, climate, and ecology in the eastern Arab provinces of the Ottoman Empire during the early modern period. Before joining Stanford, he earned an M.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from Freie Universität Berlin and a B.A. in History (specializing in South Asia) from the University of Calicut. His methodological interests include critical materialist, post-human, and relational approaches to history and theory.
