Summer Teaching Institute
2015

The Graduate School of Education’s Center to Support Excellence in Teaching partnered with Stanford Global Studies to design and offer a 5-day seminar for high school history and social science teachers on “Examining Global Change in the Era of Imperialism: Facilitating Critical Discourse,” as part of their Stanford Summer Teaching Institute. The Abbasi Program's Director, Dr. Robert Crews of the History department, among other Stanford faculty, presented to participants on "Afghanistan and the Legacies of Empire."  The Stanford History Education Group (SHEG) and SPICE will work with teachers to design lessons that engage students in critical discussion.
