This year, the Stanford Global Studies' annual summer film festival has gone virtual.  Seven films centered on the them of "Love in the Time of Cinema" can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home.

The Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies previously screened When Monaliza Smiled, the first film from director Fadi Haddad.  On Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020, Fadi Haddad met with Stanford Lecturer Dr. Ramzi Salti to discuss his first feature film and to answer questions from the audience.

When Monaliza Smiled is a Jordanian romantic comedy that follows and office romance between Monaliza, a young Jordanian woman who doesn't see the point in smiling, and Hamdi, and Egyptian immigrant who offers Monaliza a new perspective on life.
